The Memory of a Turkey
Well, now that Turkey day is gone, did you survive? Was it a thankful day? You prepare for so long to have everything just right and in a split minute it’s over. I fought the supermarket, twice, just to make sure I had everything. I had it the first trip. Then when I brought the groceries home, I stood in the middle of my kitchen and said “where am I going to put all of this”? Like I said I had it all the first time around. My husband always cooks the turkey. I couldn’t if my life depended on it. And he does a terrific job so why take it away from him. I do everything else. Well, with the exception of the dressing. That’s also his department. Got my salads done the day before. Baking was done a few days before that. Set the table the day before. So when turkey day arrived it was heaven. All done. Dinner was wonderful. Company was great. And another turkey checked off for this year. So what’s next? Christmas presents? Tree decorating? Or the decorations outside? Christmas cards? Maybe you’re the type that likes to spruce up the house before the holidays. Wow, that would be an undertaking right before the end of the year! Courage plus…… But take your pick. For me before Thanksgiving I make sure just about ALL my shopping is done. And I mean DONE. I try very hard. Do not like the crowds. Pushy people who would prefer to use you as a door mat than to say excuse me. Grabbing items out of your hand and looking at you as if you’re the thief. Standing in line and getting upset with you, who just happens to be in front of them, because the line isn’t moving fast enough. Wow. Not for me. I’ll try and do it before OR on line. Easier that way and safer! And when this time is all over I’m so thankful that that day was just the memory of a turkey….and a good one at that!!!!
